Sri Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj

Sri Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj joined the Ramakrishna Order in 1952 and received spiritual initiation and Sannyasa from Srimat Swami Sankarananda, the 7th President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

The Swami served for 18 years at the Advaita Ashrama both in Kolkata and Mayavati in various capacities, including that of Manager of the Kolkata Branch. He also held the position of Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission Saradapitha, Belur Math, the massive tertiary educational complex of the Mission, for 15 years. He was appointed a Trustee of the Ramakrishna Math, Belur and a Member of the Governing Body of the Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, in the year 1983. He was appointed the President of the Ramakrishna Math, Chennai in 1992 and continued in that capacity till 1995. He was appointed as one of the Assistant Secretaries of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission at the Headquarters at Belur in 1995. He was elected the General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission in 1997 and served in that capacity for 10 years till 2007. In 2007 he was elected as one of the Vice-Presidents of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.
