Aims and Ideals

The Centre will function in accordance with the principles of Vedanta as expounded by Swami Vivekananda:
  1. God realisation is the goal of life.
  2. "Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this divinity within by controlling nature, external and internal. Do this either by work or worship or psychic control or philosophy - by one or more or all of these - and be free. This is the whole of religion. Doctrines or dogmas or rituals or books or temples or forms are but secondary details."
The aims and ideals of the Centre shall be purely Spiritual, Cultural and Humanitarian, and shall be universal and non-political.

Objectives

The objectives for which the Centre is established are:
  1. Religious
    • To impart and promote the study of religion in accordance with the principles of Vedanta as propounded by Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Sri Swami Vivekananda.
    • To work for the establishment of fellowship amongst the religious workers of all religions, faiths and traditions, realising the one eternal and universal truth underlying them all.
  2. Humanitarian
    • To provide nutrition, health care, support services and counselling to:
      • Disadvantaged communities and persons
      • The terminally ill
      • People afflicted with HIV/Aids and their dependent families
      • Those with severe physical and mental disability
      • Children who are abandoned, homeless and orphaned
      • The elderly
    • To promote training skills in sustainable and subsistence agriculture in order to prevent and alleviate malnutrition.
    • To provide emergency relief services and assistance in the rehabilitation of families and communities afflicted by natural and man-made disasters.
    • To impart and promote the study of the arts, sciences, technology and industries, especially in disadvantaged communities.
    • To train the unemployed for the purpose of enabling them to obtain employment.
