The Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa has used a multi-dimensional approach in all its welfare activities over the last 65 years. This vision and strategy ensures that our support and services reach those in need in all areas of society irrespective of race, gender or creed. The Centre works with many NGOs with similar aims and objectives to provide much needed community services. We also take special care to assess the management, financial and operational aspects of each NGO before we engage in a long term partnership.

The Centre has been associated with the Abalindi Welfare Society for nearly 10 years. This Society has provided much needed services in the Inanda for many years, these include:

• An Old Age and Frail Care Home with 67 inmates
• An Orphanage with 43 children
• A Community Creche supporting 50 children
• A Church with a large congregation
• A Bakery

The Abalindi Welfare Society with the above support structures has a holistic approach to addressing the needs of the communities. This is very much in line with the Centre's vision of providing 'Family Welfare Centres' for community welfare activities.

The Centre have been providing a number of services to the Abalindi Welfare Society in the following areas:

• Medical services by the Clinic
• Training of nurses and care-givers in the care of the frail and terminally ill
• Nutritional support with monthly grocery provisions
• Agricultural projects with training and provision of kitchen garden kits and support by a horticulturist.
• Computer Skills training and provision of computers
• Sewing machines for community skills development
